The car comes stock with Avus 17" rims and 225/35/17 tires. I really like
the look of the OEM rims but wanted a size bigger (18s) which got me to the
Avus S8 OEM wheels. Very early on after buying
this car, I started casually looking at what type of rims were available for
it. The ones I found really nice, of course happened to be way out of my
price range. As time went by, I focused more on subtle, good looking rims,
and over the last year became convinced that the best look for this car are
the stock 18" rims that came with the Audi S8. Note that the new S4's have
similar looking rims as stock, but they are not the same (a bit more curvy,
I think) and the S8 ones definitely look better. Now all I needed was for a
great deal to come up at the right time, and it did about a month ago (not
to mention that my stock tires were pretty much at end of life, so I needed
to get them replaced anyway).
The Avus S8 wheels are 18x8 with an ETA of 48.
After a lot of research, I went ahead and got 10mm spacers (H&R) for all 4
wheels also. Some people mentioned that you don't need any spacers to fit the
wheels, but I honestly find that hard to believe since with the spacers, there
is very little room between the tire and the suspension.
After stumbling across that deal, bummer was the shipment included 2 damaged
ones (pictures show only center damage, edges were messed up also).
Alex, at Europrice, is one of the best in terms of
customer service that I've ever dealt with though, and he was great about
getting 2 new wheels here ASAP (even while he was knee deep in a move from the
East to West coast).
Along with the wheels, I got the Goodyear Eagle F1 Gs-D3 235/40/18 tires. So
far, I'm very, very happy with them as they're quite an improvement over the
stock Pirelli's.
